Frequently Asked Questions

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO PHOTOGRAPH MY NEWBORN BABY?

The best time to photograph your newborn baby is when they are under two weeks of age. During this time they are generally more curly, sleepy and easy to settle. This is when we get those cute curly womb like positions they are so used to being in. However we do love to photograph babies of any age.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK MY NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?

Please contact me anytime during your pregnancy with your estimated due date to make a booking as I am often booked a few months in advance. Once you’re home from the hospital we then confirm a day and time for your session. This guarantees your session within the required time frame and also allows me the flexibility needed in case your baby arrives early or late.

DO I NEED TO BRING PROPS, LIKE HATS OR BASKETS, TO USE DURING THE PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?

I have a range of props, wraps, hats, baskets etc… here at the studio so you don’t need to bring anything with you. Of course, if you have something special you would like your baby photographed with or in you are more than welcome to bring items along to incorporate and personalise your session.

WHAT SHOULD MY BABY WEAR?

Before you arrive at the studio it’s helpful if you could dress your baby in a romper/suit that opens down the front rather than something that has to come off over their head, just makes things a little easier to begin with. If you have any special outfits that you’d like your baby photographed in please bring those with you to your session.

CAN I BE PHOTOGRAPHED WITH MY BABY?

Absolutely I’d love to photograph you with your baby, siblings included! Family photographs are precious and this is the perfect opportunity to be photographed together. I usually organise family photographs for the very beginning of the session, they take about half an hour. So little brothers and sisters only have to be here for a short period of time, as a newborn session can take a few hours.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD BRING?

Please bring a dummy to your newborn session . I only need this to transition between set-ups and usually only for a few minutes. If you don’t have one, I have new sterilised dummies here at the studio and may ask if we can use one if your baby is particularly unsettled.
