#What To Wear To Your Photography Session?
The most common question I often hear is, what do I/we wear for our photography session? It can feel intimidating trying to select the ‘right’ clothing for your photography session but rest assured when you book a session with me I’m here to help with style advice and can guide you in the right direction. It doesn’t need to be stressful at all! I’ll guide you through the selection process and can answer all those questions…what to wear? what colours to choose? should you all match? etc…
Just as you trust in me to know how to take the best photographs of you, you can also trust in me to know what works well in a photograph. It’s the culmination of these things that made you fall in love with my photography style, right! So, I can definitely help you with what to wear, because after all these years, I do know what photographs well and what looks good together. Let’s work on selecting the best wardrobe for you and your family that will achieve the beautiful images and overall look you desire.
I recommend neutral, simple colours and tones because this doesn’t distract from the focus….the people in the photographs…you!
Anything bright, fashionable/trendy or with big bold patterns or stripes as well as darker clothing will completely change the look of your final images, and may date over time. We encourage clients to keep things light and airy as this tends to photograph best, keeping things clean, natural and simple.
Colours that look great and always photograph well are white, cream, beige, grey, and a range of soft muted tones like light blue, blush, sage green.
Of course if this clean and simple look is not you and you’d prefer something a bit louder, say, something that matches your personality then we say go for it! We want to photograph you, to show who you are and would definitely encourage you to show your personality through your wardrobe if that’s the end result you desire 🙂
We love to layer clothing as well, looking for lovely textures like, knits and laces etc.. that contribute a great deal of beauty to the final images.
The best thing is, that when you choose Clare Lacanau Photography for your photography session we make the process as easy and stress free as possible. You don’t need to worry about any of this if it’s not your thing. When you schedule your session, we’ll talk through what to wear and if you need some further inspiration or something new to wear I can send you some links to purchase something special. I’ll just need to know your size and favourite places to shop and I’ll get to work! Clients receive a style board (like the one below) with classic pieces that compliment each other. You’ll also be able to follow the links to go straight to the items listed so you can order exactly what you need in your size.
